Mechanism of Action

Ascorbic acid is a reversible biologic reducing agent (electron donor), which helps to maintain the activity of enzymes.

Ascorbic acid provides electrons needed to reduce molecular oxygen. These antioxidant capabilities also stabilize several other compounds, including vitamin E and folic acid.

Ascorbic acid is involved in the following biologic processes:

• Fatty acid transport
• Collagen Synthesis
• Neurotransmitter Synthesis
• Prostaglandin Metabolism
• Nitric Oxide Synthesis
• Iron Absorption 

Therapeutic and prophylactic roles: Several therapeutic and prophylactic roles have been described for vitamin C, including prevention of cardiovascular disease and cancer. However, evidence does not support the use of vitamin C supplementation for disease prevention. Research shows that Vitamin C has little or no role in preventing the common cold.

Other Ingredients: Vegetable stearic acid, calcium carbonate, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, vegetable magnesium stearate, and silicon dioxide.
